Introduction
Building and scaling a small business is a challenge that I believe everyone should try at some point in their life. You learn so much from the experience across multiple areas including marketing, finance, business and more.
One unique challenge everyone faces when growing a small business is generating revenue. Especially enough to have money in the bank and not keep reinvesting. Also, recurring revenue is so important for business continuity.
As a small business owner, I understand the unique challenges that money presents. I also fully understand that every modern business needs a website. It is essential in today's world.
By understanding these two factors, I am keen to make it easier and more affordable for small businesses to get an unforgettable website. That is why we are offering payment plans. You can pay your own way with terms that suit your business' cash flow.
Why you might need a payment plan
The average cost in the UK for even a simple business website is between £1,500 and £3,000. On top of that, the maintenance of a site can be around £1,000 per year, plus upwards of £500 per year for good quality, cloud hosting.
If a business was asked to pay upfront for all of those costs they could easily spend between £3,000 and £5,000 in one payment. For many businesses that is an exceptional amount of money to pay and to expect to keep paying every year.
Yet, we know how competitive the modern business climate is and not having a great website can be a breaking factor for many small businesses. It can be hard to find the money, but impossible to dismiss the importance of the cost.
The flexible alternative
For those businesses who do not want to or cannot afford to make a large one-off payment for their website, we can offer an alternative. We can take the cost of your website build and split it across the next year, two years, or three years. This means you can pay monthly, quarterly, or in other increments that suit you.
Monthly is the term that probably suits most businesses, so let's use that as an example. If you get a really great website built for £3,000 and want to pay it monthly for the next 3 years, that is £83 per month. Then, with hosting and maintenance on top, you are still keeping your payments down and more manageable.
Paying monthly can suit many businesses as their other bills are paid that way and some of their recurring income may come in on a monthly basis. That is also true for us. Almost all of our business expenses are paid once a month, so it works out quite well for us if people pay us on a monthly basis to cover our outgoings.
What's the catch?
There are many companies out there who offer 'buy now pay later' deals and the clear catch is the interest payments. Some would expect around 45% interest, which is crushing for many people.
We do not charge any interest, admin fees or any hidden charges. The same cost that you can pay in one payment is split over the terms and period you have selected. Nothing extra.
We do not offer any different service either. You get the same unforgettable website for your small business regardless of the end payment terms.
How the process works
From the start of our discovery call, when we are meeting to outline the prospective project, you can ask to spread your payments. You do not have to. If you would rather pay in one lump sum and clear the cost straightaway, that is also fine. Whatever suits you.
Then, as part of the contract that is provided, the terms will be outlined and you can sign the contract based on those terms. We would prefer to use GoCardless as the payment provider, as the payments are then scheduled based on the agreed terms. Plus, GoCardless will check in advance of any payment to ensure you are able to afford each payment.
Once your new website goes live you can start paying based on those agreed terms. Failure to keep up with payments could lead to your website becoming offline, but every option would be taken to avoid that, if possible.
